The monthly 800+ benefit and its purchasing power are different measures. Recipients receive the statutory amount, while the quantity of goods and services that it can buy changes with prices.
The estimate being discussed compares 800 złoty with approximately 485 złoty at April 2016 prices, when the 500+ programme began. Such a calculation depends on the index and comparison period chosen. It does not mean that the awarded payment has fallen to 485 złoty.
The increase from 500 to 800 złoty has applied since January 2024. When comparing household spending, distinguish the nominal payment, price changes and benefit eligibility rules. A forecast of future purchasing power is likewise not an approved change to the programme.
