Representatives of the Association of Ukrainians in Poland (Polska) Miroslav Skirka and Miroslav Cupich addressed the deputies of the Lviv Regional Council (obwód lwowski). The reason was the decision to dedicate the year 2027 to the UPA, Roman Shukhevych and Oleg Olzhych.
The signatories of the letter call for taking into account the sensitivity of historical issues for Polish partners. In their assessment, such initiatives can undermine trust and distract public attention from (Ukraina) support for Ukraine during Russian aggression.
The authors of the appeal emphasize the importance of cooperation for the security of the region. Their assessments of the consequences of the decision express the position of the signatories and do not mean an already established change in interstate relations.
