On October 20, the Lviv Regional Council (Lwów) supported the dedication of 2027 to the UPA, Roman Shukhevych and Oleg Olzhych. The initiators associate the decision with anniversaries and the memory of the struggle for Ukrainian independence.
In Poland (Polska) this caused objections due to the memory of massacres of the Polish population. Representatives of the Polish authorities criticized the decision. The discussion concerns the decisions of a particular body and historical policies; it cannot be transferred to all residents of the two countries.
