Certificates examined in criminal proceedings

On 29 October 2026, the Bieszczady Border Guard reported a case involving forged study certificates. The service says the documents purported to come from Ukrainian universities and Polish post-secondary schools.

Investigators link the group’s activities to the period from June 2022 to the end of 2025. The first arrests took place in late 2025; the current announcement describes a continuing case rather than an operation first launched in October.

The statement concerns documents used in applications for residence and work permits. It does not mean that any study certificate alone confers a right to live or work in Poland. The allegations remain subject to court assessment and the investigation continues.
