In 2026, November 1st falls on a Sunday. According to the general rule of Article 130 § 2 of the Polish Labor Code (Polska), working hours are reduced by eight hours from a holiday that falls on a day other than Sunday.
Therefore, for a standard schedule from Monday to Friday, November 2 does not automatically become an additional day off. The Ministry of Labor in an official response rejected the petition to extend the compensation mechanism to Sunday holidays.
The schedule of a particular employee may differ: his working time system, shifts and employer decisions matter. A day off after a holiday that coincides with Saturday and compensation for actual work on a holiday are separate situations and should not be confused.
