A passenger, not the driver

A Ukrainian woman was detained at the Medyka crossing after allegedly offering a border guard 100 złoty. The Bieszczady Border Guard unit reported the incident on 30 October 2026; it took place on 28 October.

According to the service, officers checked light transmission through the windows of a Renault with Ukrainian registration plates. The measurement showed excessive tinting, and the travellers were told that the vehicle would not be admitted to Poland. A passenger then allegedly offered money in exchange for the officer abandoning official duties.

The woman was taken to the prosecutor’s office and faced a corruption-related charge. The court is to determine the outcome. The Border Guard said that the car and its occupants were turned back to Ukraine once the necessary procedures had been completed.

The original report identifies a passenger: it does not confirm that she was driving. Turning back a vehicle also does not establish that a separate deportation decision or entry ban was issued; neither conclusion should be drawn from this statement.
